National business plan framework for arts organisations

National business plan framework for arts organisations was developed by Australia Council with the state and territory arts funding agencies to assist arts organisations to develop effective business plans. A business plan is the confident expression and communication of your organisation’s chosen artistic and business/operational direction. It is integral to artistic vibrancy, performance management, and influenced, but not determined, by funding. A coherent business plan will enhance the success of your organisation.

Your organisation’s board and staff will regularly refer to a well-structured plan that is not too long, and it will be a useful tool for monitoring your organisation’s artistic vision and outcomes, functionality and effectiveness. The framework identifies the key elements that your funding partners would expect to see in your business plan.

Australia Council submission on a National Cultural Policy

The Australia Council for the Arts was pleased to submit its response to the National Cultural Policy Discussion Paper recently. The Australia Council believes a National Cultural Policy will provide an important opportunity to build on past and current investment in the arts, and to take into account trends and opportunities presented by Australia in the 21st century.

5th World Summit presentations and ‘wrap-up’ available soon

Many of the presentations by the more than 80 World Summit speakers, including the ‘wrap-up’ by Summit Rapporteur, Prof Brad Haseman, will be available on the Summit website. Summit delegates had the opportunity to hear from 84 speakers from 36 countries covering all continents in keynote, panel and roundtable sessions over three days. We are continuing to add copies of their speeches and powerpoint slides to the website every day and they will be kept as a record of the Summit.

The report on the research commissioned for, and distributed to all delegates prior to, the 5th World Summit (D'Art report 41: Creative Partnerships: Intersections between the arts, culture and other sectors) also generated considerable discussion and interest.
